5 Looks in 5 Minutes : Dr Marten’s

We all know that 90’s fashion has once again come back around, and it’s not going anywhere! Everything from dad sneakers, Clueless inspired plaid and even the brown lips (thank you, Fenty Beauty)

There is one 90’s grunge boot that’s been showing up in all the celebrities’ and influencer’s closets and never leaves – Dr Marten’s.

Everyone from Cardi B, the Hadid sisters and Kourtney Kardashian have all been seen wearing the immediately recognizable combat boot.

These yellow-stitched beauties are no stranger on the streets during Fashion Week from all over the globe. Even holding its’ own on the catwalk working with designers like Chromat and Hardware LDN.

The UK owned brand first released their iconic 1460 boot in the 60’s and made its’ mark during the British punk/rock period of the 70’s. After a quieter time during the early 2000’s (when it was all about dainty, barely-there shoes) Dr Marten’s (also known as DM’s) has continued to grow in popularity. In March 31st 2018, it was reported that Dr Martens’ total revenue grew by 20%. In the US alone, revenue increased by 11% and they opened 3 new retail stores in New York.

How To Wear Them?

Dr Marten’s are the perfect fall/winter shoe for many reasons, but the main one is how versatile they are when it comes to styling and outfit choices.

Look 1: Create balance by opting for cute, floaty dresses to wear with your boots. Think ditsy floral prints, striking polka dots or a colorful number to set off your Dr Marten’s. Win extra cool girl points by adding a leather jacket. Perfect for when the weather starts to turn a little cooler.

Look 2: Pair your DM’s with the massive athleisure trend for that relaxed feel. Add your favorite pair of I AM GIA style combat pants with a contrasting body suit or crop top for a chilled weekend look. Still a bit warm? Try them with this summer’s biggest items – cycling shorts and an oversized t-shirt.

Look 3: If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You can never do wrong with the classic denim and leather combo. Experiment with different denim pieces such as a denim shirt or a pair of well-loved jeans. You could even try going all out with the double denim trend.

Look 4: For a more structured outfit, try combining your Dr Marten’s with the clean cut silhouette of a suit. Think blazers matched with slim fit pants effortlessly rolled up just above the boot.

Look 5: For real grunge 90’s lewk, match your boots with the pattern of the season – plaid. Top it off with a graphic t-shirt or a chunky knit and you’re ready to go.

Bonus Style Tip: swap out the laces for a contrasting color or material such as satin, to really personalize it.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
