Brand You Should Know: Show Twi’s Customizable Name Beaded Bracelets

Happy Cyber Monday!

The brand was started by Bombshell Shameka Reed after a trip to Accra, Ghana for what she describes as “a life changing experience.” She says, “The sights, sounds and people…simply amazing. I was deeply inspired during my time there, especially by the women,” Reed shares. “Similar to so many of the women I encounter on a daily basis, these women were strong, smart, enterprising, beautiful and had a magnetic glow. They epitomized black girl magic. I was amazed by them.”

Like most people when they travel, the Jackson, Mississippi native brought back a suitcase full of souvenirs and a lifetime of memories; souvenirs and gifts that included handmade- personalized bracelets created by a Ghanian female artisan.
I purchased bracelets with my name and the names of friends and family. I had never seen bracelets like these before. They were so colorful and beautiful with the combination of shamballa and African kobo beads. I received so many compliments on mine and everyone that I gave the bracelets to as gifts love them.

The 38 year-old serial/social entrepreneur said she knew right away that she wanted to work with the bracelet maker, but almost let doubt and fear discourage her.
“I had a hundred reasons why I thought this would work, but doubt kept creeping in. So I knew I had to do it. I could not let fear defeat me. After leaving Ghana, I had a 10 hour layover in Morocco and as soon as I got a good Wifi connection I sent the bracelet designer a message via WhatsApp and told her I wanted to work with her. We came to terms and signed a contract. In September I officially launched Twi (Twee), which is the exclusive American retailer of those bracelets.”

Twi doesn’t just sell bracelets and style, they are an economic and socially conscious business. Each month Twi partners with a non-profit, civic or social organization to support their efforts. A portion of every sell from the Shop Twi website is donated to that organization.

Reed adds, “I’m excited about the potential of Twi; the possibility of being able to improve the economic status of another woman; to support local, national and international organizations and to build a viable business that offers a truly unique product.”

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
