Burberry Launches a Sustainable Capsule Collection Made From Recycled Plastic and Fabric Scraps

Burberry has launched a new capsule collection for women and men made with Econyl, which is a sustainable nylon yarn derived from recycled fishing nets, industrial plastic, and fabric scraps.

The Econyl capsule includes seven womenswear pieces and four pieces for men, all focused on outerwear. The women's collection features trench coats, longline jackets and parkas, plus a chic, yet practical, logo-print backpack, with pieces ranging from $990 to $1,690.

Burberry's move towards sustainable fabric sourcing joins the ranks of Stella McCartney, Prada, and H&M, which are also championing the revolutionary fabric. Econyl is the name of the fabric, which is made by Aquafil (a global producer of synthetic fibers). The company is tackling fashion's pollution problem head on by collecting postconsumer materials from our oceans and landfills, then regenerating this waste into one of the sturdiest and most versatile fabrics on the market. Econyl is leading the conversation in circular fashion by offering an infinitely recyclable fabric to some of the biggest fashion companies in the world.
