Is Miley Cyrus's Gold Chain-Mail Dress in "Slide Away" One Big Metaphor?

Miley Cyrus stuns in her new video for "Slide Away," and we can't take our eyes off her gold chain-mail dress. The emotional song offers a glimpse into her and Liam Hemsworth's breakup after 10 years of dating and less than one year of marriage. In the melancholy video, Miley literally floats away in a pool - gold dress and all - after she leaves a party scene she clearly doesn't want to be a part of. Her wrists are covered in gold chains, and the backless dress is held together by intricate links with Gucci belts at the waist. The low-cut dress is also a very similar style to the black one she wore to the VMAs recently.

It might be a stretch, but I can't help but wonder if the decision to wear an outfit covered in chains in this video was a deliberate choice - a metaphor for how Miley was feeling and how she's now breaking free, or "sliding away."
