6 Shoe Trends Celebs Over 50 Favor—and the Ones They Avoid

Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker—what do they all have in common? Aside from topping our list of the chicest celebrities over 50, they've all honed in on a strong sense of personal style, and their consistent fashion choices are proof of that. Since celebs over a certain age have figured out their style better than most, it's only natural that they would each have items they wear constantly—and ones that they tend to avoid.

Curious about how they've come to define their own style, we did some research and found seven of 2019's major shoe trends this stylish group is passing on, along with the shoe style each of them wears nonstop. Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker, for instance, always opt for more timeless and classic shoe styles that reflect the rest of their look rather than the most daring, trendy styles of the moment. With that in mind, scroll down to see which shoes for women over 50 these stylish celebrities are wearing and shop similar styles.

Speaking from personal experience, chunky-soled "dad" sneakers were always a tough one to pull off. I give major credit to those who succeded in styling them. Instead, wiser celebs like Naomi Campbell have an eye for timeless sneaker styles, especially retro kicks from heritage brands like Nike, Vans, and Reebok.
Sarah Jessica Parker has the right idea. She styled a pair of slouchy suede boots underneath a maxi dress and topped it off with a long wool coat—and the resulting look is a polished winter outfit we can't wait to re-create. We've seen a shift away from overly tight boots and once-popular sock boots, so SJP's roomier pair feels more relevant than ever.
You can't deny the impact that barely there sandals had on the fashion world this year. They were everywhere we looked. Despite that, though, the most stylish celebs in their 50s chose simple two-strap heeled sandals again and again. Whether worn with dresses or jeans, they're proving just how perfect this classic shoe style really is.
Jennifer Aniston is never one to stray far from her highly edited wardrobe of elevated basics, and the shoes she always keeps in rotation are basic (but never boring) black ankle boots. Oh so wise, Jen.
Despite the fact that kitten heels are everywhere at the moment, certain celebs, such as Salma Hayek and Jennifer Lopez, never gave up on platforms to begin with. And based on our intel from the S/S 20 runways, platform shoes are about to be the next big shoe trend. All the more reason to follow suit.
During the warmer months, over-50 celebs can be found opting for—you guessed it—timeless sandal styles. Cindy Crawford is a longtime fan of flip-flops, which she always styles to perfection. Despite the proliferation of sportier sandals we saw this summer, we have a feeling celebs like Crawford won't be straying far from the flip-flops they know and love.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
