Patrick Ta Created 3 Holiday Looks That Are Just So Good

If you’re on Instagram, you’ve probably double-tapped or saved Patrick Ta’s work countless times without even knowing it. Gigi Hadid’s perfectly polished skin? Ta’s doing. Shay Mitchell’s colorful eye looks? Also Ta’s work. A quick scroll through his star-studded feed and you’ll realize his signature makeup style—a next-level glow and something bold—is what all of Hollywood wants. (It’s also what people want: Ta has 1.6 million followers on the ’gram.)

Of course, there are major perks that come with being such an in-demand, high-profile makeup artist, like being able to launch your own makeup line. [Ed. note: Ta’s latest collection, Monochrome Moment, hit shelves at the end of October.] But it also comes with a lot of pressure… You’ve got to be on top of your game at all times, think carefully about what you post (your feed is basically your professional portfolio), and constantly look for inspiration literally everywhere.

In fact, Ta’s latest source of inspiration came from one seriously iconic cartoon character we’ve only loved our entire lives… “We can all learn to express ourselves from [Disney's] Minnie Mouse,” he explains. “Minnie is iconic. She’s classic, bold, playful, and lives for stepping outside of the box.” Unexpected? Sure. But also totally perfect for inspiring next-level holiday glam, as evidenced by the three festive, party-ready looks you’ll see below.

When people think of Minnie, there’s a good chance her iconic lashes or the color red comes to mind. “Red speaks to who Minnie is and how the world sees her,” Ta says. “I wanted a look that was inspired by traditional Minnie and how glamorous she is.” That glow. Ta used a highlighting mist from his namesake line on the cheekbones and collarbones to make sure our model was glowing from every direction. And the red lip? Ta obviously used the Dose of Colors Minnie Matte Liquid Lipstick in Irreplaceable—it’s equal parts classic and bold, aka perfect for any and every low-key holiday party you’ve got on your calendar.

For occasions that call for something a bit more glitzy (meaning you can’t just throw on some gold glitter and call it a day), Ta has literally got you covered—in rhinestones. He used dots to inspire this design (they’re quintessentially Minnie, right?) and kept the rest of the makeup neutral. He dusted the beige Forever Friends shade from the Dose of Colors Minnie Eyeshadow Palette over a nude cream shadow to really make the eyes pop. “I’ve been seeing a lot of different eye looks on social media,” he says. “If you see others wearing playful looks, it makes you more willing to try and experiment too.”

You know how Minnie likes to wear pink sometimes? Ta says the same thing applies when it comes to your holiday makeup selections—sometimes you need to ditch the red and do something totally surprising. “This look is a fun way to switch things up. It’s super undone, natural, and experimental—it makes pink feel modern,” says Ta. The secret to getting this look? Use a lip color on the lids (the color is more intense), blend it out with a brush, and top it off with a pat of eye gloss on the center of the lid.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
