The Prettiest Spring Pattern Trends Fashion Girls Will Wear This Season

The worst of winter has yet to come, but that doesn't mean we don't already have one eye on the upcoming season. It wasn't too long ago that the S/S 20 runways gave us a taste of what's to come. So to give ourselves a break from the dreaded puffer-coat slump, we've taken to daydreaming up a list of the pretty (and bold) prints that await us in a few months' time. From fresh updates to a few favorites (polka dots and gingham) to far out florals evocative of your grandma's chic '70s-era wallpaper, these prints are poised to dominate our Instagram feeds.

Caution: Minimalists may want to look away. The following list is packed to the brim with eye-catching patterns and a kaleidoscope of colors not for the faint of heart. Read on to see the five prints we're predicting every fashion girl will be wearing come spring.

Sure, florals for spring may not be groundbreaking, but this late '60s/early '70s take on the print feels arguably refreshing. Get ready to see as many groovy cuts (think kick-flare pants in velvet, boho maxi dresses, and mod-like miniskirts) as you will '70s era-inspired prints like the larger-than-life abstract florals seen at Christopher Kane. Pro tip: Now may be a good time to raid your grandma's closet for any and all vintage goodies.
Babba Rivera shows us how it's done in a perfect head-toe mustard ensemble. And the cherry on top? A thick headband and blunt bangs that complete the mod throwback.
This suiting staple is getting wings of its own. While we can still expect to find a myriad of classic pinstripe blazers and trousers, we're ready for the onslaught of other silhouettes taking on the print. Like Sacai's addition of chains and open-toed sandals, keep your pinstripe picks from looking too business formal and mix it up with more casual pieces like colorful striped sweaters, sneakers, or a mesh layering tee.
These style twins know how to mix business and pleasure pairing their pinstripe suits with sneakers and oversized sunglasses.
This season, Altuzarra let us know that when it comes to polka dots, all shapes, sizes, and colors are welcome. Whether dressed up with a wedding-friendly cocktail dress or dressed down in an everyday tee, expect polka dots to be rampant next season.
This showgoer keeps the print in check with a pair of chunky lace-up boots.
It seemed only appropriate that Versace closed out its spring/summer 2020 show with J.Lo modeling a reimaged version of her iconic plunging Grammy's dress. The brand's latest collection heavily featured tropical prints, a theme shared by a handful of other designers this past fashion week. From palm prints to hibiscus florals, you can operate on island time and any time in this trending pattern.
Shopbop's Fashion Director, Caroline Maguire, shows us just how easy it is to mix the bold print in with our existing wardrobe.
This isn't the first spring we've been hung up on gingham, and it certainly won't be the last. But this time around, keep the picnic reminiscent versions at home. This season’s take on the print puts pastels and contrasting cuts at the forefront. Whether you choose to dress head-to-toe in gingham (like this Emilia Wickstead ensemble), opt for a chic two-piece set, or let it sit in as a subtle, secondhand design element, don't pass up on the print come spring.
Looking to stand out from the gingham crowd? Try an asymmetrical gingham print that gives the classic print an unexpected edge.

Up next, the biggest spring 2020 trends, period.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
