This Supplement Has Actually Changed My Dry, Fine Hair for the Better

I’ve never been one to have voluminous, luscious hair, and let me preface this by stating I’m not here to complain. I’ve learned how to manage and tame my fine, fragile hair accepting my hair for what it is without having to retire from highlights (yes, there is a way to have healthy highlighted hair). As an expert in testing a lot of beauty products, I have tried seemingly every hair supplement to have surfaced on the market throughout the years. From pure collagen powder and prenatal pills to biotin-everything, I only recently discovered a true miracle worker.

Unfortunately, due to the numerous attempts—and fails—to find a suitable supplement, I became a bit of a skeptic when familiarizing myself with new procuts. In fact, I essentially gave up testing new products and justified it by using less hot tools and stripping myself of all bad hair habits. It’s hard to decipher why I gravitated toward trying Nutrafol supplements, considering I had truly thrown in the towel. What seemed as the last trying attempt proved to be the most effective. Serendipitous, right?

I will admit initially I did not do my due diligence when researching the product; however these hair-changing capsules came highly recommended from a colleague, so I nonchalantly took the Nutrafol Hair Wellness Evaluation which creates a customized recommendation for your hair’s needs. Founded on the mission of bringing safe and efficacious natural products to the market that solve hair issues, Nutrafol implements an integrative approach to hair wellness with natural formulations addressing a wide range of hormonal, environmental, and hereditary causes that affect hair health. “My business partners and I took almost a year of research, involving other doctors in the process, to dive deep into unhealthy hair follicles at the root and how botanicals can work to achieve healthy hair.” Dr. Sophia Kogan, the Chief Medical Officer of Nutrafol, explained. “It was especially important to understand the scientific basis to be able to bring Nutrafol and its science to western medical doctors.” Because of their attention to exactly which ingredients were doing what and the exact amount needed, they created a trusted product.

From celebrities with comparable hair to mine including Hilary Duff and Naomi Watts to Rumer Willis and Ashley Tisdale, Nutrafol has developed a devoted following simply because of the significant results.

Here’s the truth: it’s not going to happen overnight. If you’re one that opts for instantly gratifying products, this is not for you. You don’t take one capsule and wake up as Rapunzel the next day. Granted, I did notice results within the first month. Let me break the regimen down: after taking the hair wellness evaluation which assesses stress, diet, and wellness routine, Nutrafol recommends one core solution (the pills) and two targeted boosters ranging from liver support, digestive enzymes, vitamin B, etc. I was personally prescribed the Core Nutrafol Women’s Supplement, as well as the Vitamin B-Booster and Liver Support Supplement for my hair-saving remedy. Once prescribed, you take four Core capsules, two liver support capsules, and a droplet of vitamin B once a day with food. Candidly, the amount of pills is my least favorite part. To ease into the number of pills, I began incorporating the four core pills each morning into my vitamin routine.

So, what did I notice? Do I suddenly have hair down to my heels? No. But, finally, my hair has grown past my collarbone (a milestone I never foresaw) and the once dead ends are no longer broken and scrappy, but rather strong, healthy, and soft. My hair has remained fine, but much denser—meaning I now have a plethora of fine hairs. I’m currently on my third bottle of the Core supplement, comprised of 120 capsules per bottle, and I am eager to see the improvement as I remain committed to this growth plan.

I’ve teetered with the question of using hair supplements versus hair masks and oils and remain biased that supplements act as the ultimate game-changer. Sophia clarified my suspicions, “The living portion of the hair, the follicle, is a sensitive mini-organ that is impacted by everything that happens within the body. Its health is reflective of the internal environment and should be treated from within. That’s where botanicals and Nutrafol come in.”

While these supplements promote hair growth from within, I still am mindful of the other products I am using. Scroll below to see which products, in use with Nutrafol, enhance my hair health.

This eliminates blow drying my hair—an ideal two-for-one.
Everyone's hair hero.
Typically, I use this once a month. It leaves my scalp feeling renewed and refreshed.
With thin hair, it's best not to have a super tight ponytail, so I opt for these silk scrunchies to let my hair breathe.
I tend to go for powder dry shampoos because powder keeps my hair cleaner for a longer amount of time, à la no drying out with shampoo or heat styling.
On ponytail days, I love going for a slicked back look using this castor oil to smooth my baby hairs.
A heat protectant is a must.
This will give your scalp the deepest clean. Up Next: I Tried a Scalp Facial, and It Cured My Dry, Itchy Scalp.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
