This Unexpected Top Is Dominating the Internet—and I'm 100% Into It

While we may still be in the throes of winter, I for one can’t wait to swap out some of my bulky, chunky sweaters for something a little lighter as we (excitedly!) approach spring. So what will be replacing the thick cable-knits in my wardrobe this upcoming season? As market editor, I always have my eyes peeled on the coolest new pieces that are percolating at our favorite stores—and one unexpected trend that I simply can’t wait to get my limbs into is a polo-style knit top. (And I’m not talking the type of polo shirts your dad might wear to golf.) In essence, these are simply sweaters with collars—made up of lightweight (soft ribbed) knits and sometimes featuring buttons.

The top style is a micro trend we spotted on the spring 2020 runways—featured in abundance at Prada, in particular—where fitted, sheer collared ribbed knit tops were buttoned up to the neck and tucked into artsy pencil skirts—exuding a preppy-meets-provocative vibe.

Equal parts prim, preppy, and retro, polo knit tops are incredibly versatile—easy to wear with skirts, jeans, and tailored trousers alike. Below, I’m sharing some of the chicest I’ve seen—currently dominating at our favorite stores.

At Prada, sheer, ribbed, knit polo tops were worn with printed midi skirts and mules—which offset the prim nature of the top.
The Prada runways proved that navy blue and black is a combo we should be trying this spring. Pair your knit polo sweater with a leather skirt.
At Missoni, knit collared sweaters with deep-V necks and metallic flecks exuded a cool retro vibe.
Kate Spade's S/S 20 runway made us want to run out and buy pretty pastel polos immediately.
Collared knit tops worn with high-waisted jeans are a foolproof winter-to-spring option.
Layer a tank or tee underneath your sweater while the temps are still cool.
Hit two trends in one and wear the silhouette in this season's of-the-moment pistachio hue.
A pop of bold color will add a springtime pep in your sartorial step.
Sporty chic.
Pair with beige leather pants for a modern spring 2020 look.
This color though!
A cardigan hybrid provides utmost versatility.
Button yours up to the top for a prim-chic vibe.
Perfect for a casual off-duty look.
This works just as well with casual jeans as it does with your wide-leg work pants.
We're already thinking of all the ways we'll wear this.
Expect plenty of compliments in this one.
Layer this seriously soft sweater over a tissue-thin turtleneck throughout winter.
Hot pink is a huge color trend for spring 2020.
The detailing on this makes it look seriously luxe.

Up next, the affordable seven-piece spring 2020 capsule wardrobe.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
