A Shopping Expert Told Me the Coolest Emerging Fashion Brands to Know About Now

Fresh talent is what keeps the fashion industry exciting, but also what keeps me constantly inspired to reimagine my personal style and what I’m wearing. And in the current climate, designers are facing challenges to their businesses, which is making it clear that they need our support now more than ever. So, what is some of the young talent hitting their stride that we should pay attention to now?

To find out the best emerging designer to know about now, I turned to one of fashion’s most in the know insiders, Libby Jane Page, a senior fashion market editor at Net-a-Porter. It’s her job to discover the best new talent in fashion to bring to Net-a-Porter, so she always has insight into the coolest designers to know about at any given time. Curious to find out which labels are topping her list right now, I asked her to share the emerging brands that have caught her eye recently. Ahead, she’s highlighting the cool emerging brands that are about to take off.

"Christopher John Rogers is re-defining eveningwear with his unique sense of color and sculptural silhouettes. He’s a part of our NET-A-PORTER Vanguard program and we’re excited to see his growth thus far."

"Peter Do is not only a CFDA Winner, but is also part of NET-A-PORTER’s Vanguard program and he has redefined minimalism. His take isn’t simple or lackluster, but quite the opposite. His pieces are wearable and clean cut, but they also contain a big point of view. Peter has already managed to establish some clear signatures within his collection be that his spacer suiting, two-tone pants, or his pleated skirt, and with him just being 3 season’s in it’s obvious that there are great things to come. He also debuted shoes that were chunky but feminine, a hard medium to meet."

"Neous is not new news to anyone in the industry, her Jumel sandal has been one of the most worn of the season, but expect bags in the coming months by the talented Vanissa, which is sure to have the same impact, if not bigger!"

"Gauchere is made for any woman looking for chic, elevated clothing with a practical sensibility. Her effortless shapes and easy color palette is perfect for anyone looking to invest in timeless pieces with a sense of longevity."

"Coperni has become a headliner for Spring Summer 2020’s 90’s trend, and the design duo re-launched their label with a fresh perspective on tech. Their latest collection is the perfect mix of tailoring, little black dresses and shirting. The brands iconic ‘Swipe Bag’ inspired by the wifi tool on the IPhone is just the start of what is bound to be a strong accessories collection in coming seasons."

"Minju Kim won the Netflix series ‘Next in Fashion’ where NET-A-PORTER experienced Minju’s exclusive collection reach instant sell-out success. Whilst the designer isn’t necessarily emerging in any sense, her feminine designs have a sense of attitude that are sure to reach new heights this year."

"Commission brings an eclectic take that is a refreshing point of view. Their Fall Winter 2020 collection had nostalgia come through in new ways, with matching sweater sets, faux fur coats and rose prints."

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
