Emma Roberts Just Brought This Going-Out Top Back From the Dead

Before off-the-shoulder tops and then statement-sleeve tops become the only going-out tops that mattered, halter tops were the go-to style for after dark. If visions of Kate Moss, Paris Hilton, and Gwyneth Paltrow in the early 2000s are running through your head right now, you know what we're talking about. Emma Roberts was just a preteen when the trend first peaked, but she's clearly making up for possibly missing out on the trend. Last weekend while out to dinner in L.A., Roberts wore a strappy black halter top with loose jeans and platform sandals (which are set to be a major spring and summer shoe trend).

So how does one make the trend look fresh in 2020? We advise keeping it simple, as Roberts did. Opt for a halter top that's on the minimal end of the spectrum and pair it with jeans and a current shoe trend. Therein lies the perfect, easy going-out outfit for spring.
