What a 55-Year-Old Former Nordstrom Buyer Wants From the Big Nordstrom Sale

There’s nothing that gets us going quite like a massive Nordstrom sale. In fact, we recently covered a range of the summer items we’re eyeing in the brand’s discounted section, which features coveted products at up to 60% off. Well, we thought we’d take another perusal through all of the redlined merch, and we tapped a fellow Nordstrom shopper, Susie Wright, to join us. In fact, our friend also happened to work as a Nordstrom buyer for 10 years, so it’s safe to say she really knows the product and what’s worth scoring on sale. The personal stylist and mastermind behind So Susie also happens to be a 55. And while age has absolutely nothing to do with what you should or shouldn’t wear, we always love tapping her for shopping guidance given her experience fine-tuning her classic wardrobe over the years.

Curious about the categories she’s interested in shopping during the Nordstrom sale? If you’re shopping at the moment or are interested in scoping cool finds to bookmark and reference later, keep scrolling to uncover what Wright is eyeing, along with inspired summer items that could be worth a little add-to-cart action.

"I'm always looking for easy summer dresses since they're the easiest piece to throw on once temperatures rise. I'm especially loving casual T-shirt styles and anything that's comfy for backyard barbecues and hanging around the house."

"This is the sale where I scour the lingerie department. I recommend stocking up on lightweight summer pj's and anything soft and comfy. You can also find your favorite bras in pretty spring colors."

"Since denim is the backbone of our wardrobes, I'm always tempted when it's on sale. This year, look for ankle-length, soft, stretchy jeans to wear at home or to the grocery store (preferably in a light wash)."

"Since many of us aren't currently wearing heels, slide sandals have replaced slippers. There are many slide-sandal options, and the prices are incredible, so take the opportunity to grab a couple of pairs. Try some in a fun color or with embellishments."

"I always advise my clients to stock up on a few basics like tees and tanks because they often need replacing after a full season of wear. Since tanks are the chic update to every outfit this summer, I'll have my eye on ones that can easily be worn with a bra."

"Swimwear is at the top of my list of sale items to buy, and since many of us have canceled trips, there might be some really good deals available. While we might not be traveling quite yet, cover-ups often work as casual dresses, and purchasing a swimsuit or two for a future trip might be wise!"

"I'm always looking to add to my jewelry collection, so finding a few new pieces on sale is an added bonus. This year, I'll be looking for bracelets and interesting hoop earrings."

"Lastly, since we're all trying to get motivated for home workouts, sometimes new athletic wear gives us extra incentive. Plus, these days, we can wear it around the house, too!"

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
