7 New Jewelry Trends You're Going to See Everywhere This Fall

If you’re already thinking ahead to your fall wardrobe and what you’ll be wearing in the months ahead, you’re not alone. In our editor Zoom calls and Slack channels, the upcoming fall trends are a hot topic of discussion, where we’re floating around the pieces we have our eyes on and what we’re adding to our shopping carts at the moment. As we continue to digest the current pandemic, we have to confess that it has changed the way we’re thinking about fashion trends and the way we’re getting dressed up, but it sure is fun to talk about them and dig up some inspiring runway images form the best F/W 20 shows.

Looking to one of my favorite fashion items—jewelry—there are plenty of cool pieces that I foresee bubbling up this fall. Ahead, I’m highlighting 7 of my favorite fall 2020 jewelry trends, from clothing with jewelry actually built into it to the new take on choker necklaces to ever-evolving chain pieces.

On the F/W 20 runways, brands like Bottega Veneta and Rokh showed pieces with chains and metal jewelry built into the clothing itself—an evolution from the chain-embellished heels that have been everywhere this year. Clothing that doubles as jewelry? I'm in.

While chokers have been popular in seasons past, dainty styles were replaced by heavier sculptural versions on the runway at brands like Proenza Schouler and Chloé. Whether layered with knitwear or tailored outerwear, this is the statement-making piece to invest in for fall.

While gold is the metal that typically dominates the runways, this season we saw a huge uptick in silver pieces everywhere from Alexander McQueen to Raco Rabanne. Look out for thick tube bracelets, stacked dome rings, and unique artisanal pieces.

In addition to silver, we're also seeing designers gravitating towards high-impact mixed metal pieces. If you can't decide if you're a silver or a gold version, you actually don't have to choose.

Spotted in the collections of designers like Jacquemus and Cult Gaia, we're seeing natural materials like wood and leather pop up everywhere. This movement towards organic materials feels like such a cool, effortless take on accessories.

Instead of traditional stands of pearls, brands like Chanel are introducing unique silhouettes, new proportions, and mixed materials like gold chain details—whether dramatic, cascading Baroque pearl earrings, or a necklace string with pearls in mismatched shapes.

Chains in all forms continue to rule as one of the most ubiquitous trends across the F/W 20 runways, but especially oversize versions. Whether worn as earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, you'll continue to see plenty of these this fall.

Next, read about the capsule wardrobe I'll be wearing this fall.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
