9 Items I'm Buying to Make My Outfits Look More Expensive This Fall

While it may still be sweltering hot outside, fall is just around the corner, friends (46 days to be exact), and I for one am already bookmarking a rather large number of chic fall pieces to add to my wardrobe for the upcoming season. While I don’t want to spend a huge amount on a new-season wardrobe this year, I am looking to invest in trends that certainly look expensive. From plush velvet fabrics to ribbed knit dresses and victorian-era collars, below, I’m rounding up some of the chicest fall trends that will make your outfit look substantially more luxurious this fall. The best part? Almost all these runway-approved picks below ring in at under $200.

Nothing looks more plush and opulent than velvet. Whether you go for a velvet dress or a subtle accessory, the sumptuous fabric will make every ensemble look fancier.
If you're investing in knitwear this season, opt for elevated ribbed styles in bodycon silhouettes and neutral color palettes that exude sophistication.
If the F/W 2020 runways are anything to go by, you officially need a cape this fall! The coat is as regal as it gets and will add elegance to a basic jeans-and-sweater-outfit in an instant.
The leather trend continues to reign supreme this fall adding a luxe-looking touch to every outfit. Opt for a leather blazer, skirt, pants, or Bermuda shorts to take on the trend.
From high necklines to ruffles to vintage collars, victorian inspired necklines will add romance and opulence to any fall look.
Heritage prints never fail to make an outfit look more expensive. Whether you opt for a houndstooth blazer, check skirt, or plaid cape, your ensemble will exude countryside chic.
Speaking of countryside chic, this fall sees equestrian-inspired styles dominate, as seen on major runways from Tory Burch to Michael Kors to Chanel. Opt for a pair of tall riding boots to easily take on the trend.
Long gloves are having a major moment this fall and are guaranteed to add drama and elegance to every ensemble. (Plus, we can't think of a more relevant time to wear them.)
A huge trend this fall, shearling jackets and coats—both trimmed and in full—are seriously warm, cozy, and chic. This is unquestionably one style to invest in this season.
Chunky chains and modern pearls were seen all over the runways, respectively, but it was the unique combination of both chains and pearls together that made for a luxurious and decadent touch.

Up next, nine fall fabrics that deserve a place in your fall wardrobe.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
