How to Make Loungewear Look Expensive

Over the last century, there have been various manifestations of loungewear—from the elegant peignoirs of the early 20th century to the silken co-ord sets of the '70s to the penchant for underwear as outerwear in the '90s. In 2020, loungewear has taken on a whole new personality. This time, though, we can safely say it's looking pretty high-end.

Fashion is clearly having a love affair with loungewear, but it's not loungewear as you know it. From luxe-looking knit pants to elevated hoodies and sumptuous fabrics, there is something undeniably chic about these ultra-comfy pieces stepping out of the realm of sloppy and into the realm of sleek.

So how do fashion girls make their loungewear look expensive? It’s all about how you style your comfy pieces: For instance, sweatpants look seriously chic when paired with a blazer, heels, and a chunky necklace. Choosing loungewear with elevated details is important, too, such as ribbed knit fabrics or silky textures. Scroll down for some tips, tricks, and outfit ideas for making your loungewear look super luxe this season.

A pair of sweat shorts look seriously chic when paired with an oversize blazer. Opt for neutral hues to keep the look sophisticated and streamlined.
Exude high-end appeal in a head-to-toe tonal look. Balance out the slouch of knitted joggers with heels and a sharp blazer.
A statement gold necklace will take even the simplest of loungewear basics to next-level chic.
The ultimate cozy-yet-put-together pairing, knitted matching sets, exude an expensive and upscale look. Go for a ribbed-knit pants set or a soft-and-chic shorts set and pair either with minimal adornments—gold hoops, a chain-link bracelet, or a pendant necklace.
From buttery yellow to oat-milk hues, nothing makes your loungewear look more pricey and posh than a head-to-toe ivory outfit. Mix textures and tones of the same shade to keep your look interesting.
Your pajamas aren't just for the bedroom. Silk and satin fabrics add an elevated touch to your ensembles. Try pairing your pajama top with a chic pair of split-hem pants and preppy loafers for a relaxed-yet-elegant look.
Silky wide-leg lounge pants and pajama bottoms elevate your whole look with a little sheen. Pair either with an equally comfortable button down for an opulent laid-back look.

Up next, I'm a homebody—these are the loungewear pieces I swear by.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
