I Live in California and Have "New Bohemian" Style—These Are My Go-To Outfits

Bohemian style comes with a long history, most closely associated with the hippie movement of the late '60s and '70s that stood against conventional lifestyles and became synonymous with artistic expression. The era featured new clothing styles such as ethnic dresses, embroideries, mixed prints, earthy shades, volume, fringe, and flared silhouettes.

The free-spirited bohemian style has certainly evolved throughout the centuries, but the boho hype has never really gone away. We still see elements of the aesthetic on countless runways, with plenty of brands and retailers leaning into the creative aesthetic.

While the term “boho-chic” may feel slightly dated these days—perhaps mustering up images of Sienna Miller in peasant-style dresses, slouchy beige boots, and floppy hats circa 2005, today there is a somewhat “new bohemian” style that has emerged with brands such as Dôen, Christy Dawn, Love Shack Fancy, Faithfull the Brand along with designers such as Ulla Johnson tapping into the artistic, romantic, and nomadic bohemian in a modern way.

So how do you nail “new bohemian” style? We tapped into free-spirited fashion muse—California based model, and singer/songwriter Alyssa Miller of Primrose Forever Sanctuary to share some of her relaxed go-to outfits that we think encapsulates the aesthetic perfectly. Scroll below as she shares her everyday looks and shop the styles for yourself.

"For when you want to feel cute but also comfy—this Daily Sleeper nightdress is perfect for cuddling up with a book."
"This dress is from Staud—it's a great silhouette for me. And I love a good statement sleeve."

"I'm the Art Director at Christy Dawn and these shorts are a classic from the brand. We really walk the talk when it comes to caring for the environment."
"This suit is from Scout Goods and I'm in love! They are a sustainable brand made in the U.S. I can't wait to style with a vintage blouse and blazer for the cooler months."
A vintage-inspired breezy maxi-dress works from day-to-night with the addition of tan accessories. Finish the look with an effortless straw bag.
An embroidered peasant dress exudes a relaxed, rustic, country aesthetic.
Nothing completes your bohemian look quite like a Jane Birkin inspired basket bag.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
