The Flat Shoe Trend I'm Buying Instead of Heels This Season

For the first time maybe ever, I don't anticipate buying any new heels this fall or winter. I don't typically wear heels all that much when it's cold anyway, and fall and winter 2020 is sure to be far more uneventful than usual, so flats it is for me. Luckily, one of the biggest shoe trends on the market for the upcoming season happens to be flat—well, sort of. Allow me to explain.

I've always been a big fan of loafers. The Gucci Jordaan loafers have been perhaps the most worn shoes in my closet for the past several years, but I'm ready for a fresh update on the classic style. My wishes have been granted, thanks in large part to Prada and its chunky loafer It shoes, and the grunge trend that's such a thing this fall. I'm happy to have snagged a pair and basically just want summer to end so that I can wear them on my rare outings without sweating my feet off. Prada's loafers (which you'll see below) have been all over my Instagram feed and have been selling out left and right, but many other brands have followed suit and gotten in on the trend themselves, which I fully support. Like the Prada ones, many styles have a lug sole or a low platform, but that doesn't make them heels, in my opinion. I'll gladly take the extra height, though.

Keep scrolling to see how people are styling their chunky loafers and shop my favorite pairs at a variety of price points.

Can you see why they're so highly coveted?
This might be my favorite wallet-friendly pair.
They're kind of perfect in every way.
I think about these a lot.
So many cool details on this pair.
The square toe and yellow color feels fresh (but they also come in black).
The little jewel is everything.
You can never go wrong with Dr. Martens.
You know these will sell out.
In case you want something a little more fun.
I'm surprisingly into the patent leather.
Puddles have nothing on these.
These are so special.
ASOS is always quick to jump on the trends.
A little hardware never hurt.
These are likely to stay in your wardrobe for years to come.
Wouldn't be a shoe trend roundup without Gucci.
Imagine how cute these would look with socks.
I have a hunch that these are comfortable.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
