It’s no secret that 2020 has been filled with both challenges and inconceivable changes that have impacted every facet of our lives—like awards show season. No one could have predicted that we’d see the 2020 Met Gala be postponed, or that last year’s American Music Awards, would be very different from this year. But alas, here we are. And despite this year’s awards show’s being limited to fewer attendees, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to celebrate. With artists like Meg Thee Stallion securing five nominations and performances from Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lupa, Billie Ellish, and Doja Cat, this year’s awards ceremony is a reminder that art can carry us through. Even amidst a pandemic, we can rise above to create music, find joy, and serve a full look. Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week.
