And thanks to the ever-changing trend cycle, I was just as quickly bored and on to the next thing. This flighty behavior is not only exhausting but extremely wasteful—both in terms of money and discarded pieces. While I do my best to donate clothing and shoes I no longer wear and shop sustainable brands, the negative impact the fashion industry as a whole has on the environment is not lost on me.
In an effort to reduce my personal contribution to that negative impact, I've examined my shopping habits and introduced a few actionable items that feel like sustainable solutions. I'm making an effort to shop mostly secondhand (The RealReal has become my best friend), getting shoes resoled instead of swapping for a new pair, and have made it a point to stop buying into every trend that pops up.
