I Thought Bodycon Was Dead, But It's Back and I'm Actually Into It

Like many others, my outfits have recently revolved around cozy pieces like sweatpants, baggy jeans, wide-cut trousers, and boxy coats. In fact, I’d say the true common denominator in what I’ve been wearing is that everything is upsized. Loose, slouchy, relaxed—my wardrobe has really been all about comfort. With a slew of trends on the horizon that continue to tap into this sense of comfortable (yet tailored) staples, including The Row’s standout F/W 21 collection, I predict nothing but more momentum for upsized proportions. However, there’s also a 180° away from them happening right now. That’s right, bodycon pieces are back.

The return of the bodycon trend actually doesn’t surprise me. It’s a trend that I didn’t love during it’s heyday in the ‘2000s, but it’s no longer just about bandage dresses—now the silhouettes I’m seeing somehow seem fresh and cool and very wearable. While I don’t see myself retiring comfortable sweatsuits anytime soon, I have been craving pieces that have a little more shape. In fact, my latest purchase with a body-hugging jersey maxi dress that I’m envisioning wearing them summer with strappy sandals and layered jewelry.

It seems I’m not alone in my impulse to dress in form-fitting items. I’ve noticed fashion people and celebs like Dua Lipa wearing every possible version of the bodycon trend, from second-skin tops to “floss” pieces to bodice tops. Ahead, see how insiders are wearing the bodycon now and shop my edit if you’re inspired to try it out for yourself.

Prada's S/S 21 collection showcased tight turtleneck tops finished with holes that were layered with a number of looks and will no doubt be one of the must-buy pieces for spring. Part of the larger cutout trend we're seeing right now, this is one of the freshest ways to tap into bodycon pieces right now.
As I mentioned, I just ordered this strapless body-skimming jersey dress and know that it will be a staple I wear again and again. There are so many silhouettes you can try out to fit into your own wardrobe, which makes this one of the most foolproof ways to try out the bodycon trend.
Bustiers and corset tops have seen popularity in past seasons, but they certainly aren't going anywhere. Now, there a fresh takes on the trend to look out for, including pieces finished with strap details, lace-up sides, and quirky prints.
It's no secret that Who What Wear editors are big fans of the second-skin top trend. What I especially love is how many cool versions there are on the market. You can wear a classic printed turtleneck version or opt for an underwire crop top polo version.
"Floss" pieces, with their signature barely-there straps, seem to get reinvented each season. This time around, you'll see cool bodycon takes on the trend.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
