Bella Hadid's Vintage Swimsuit Photos Beg the Question: Are Tankinis the New Low-Rise Jeans?

First low-rise jeans and now this? Bella Hadid really broke out her vintage tankini, and I'm not sure how I'll recover. The model opted for a throwback style when she spent some seaside time with friends recently, and she documented the outfit on Instagram. Your eyes might be drawn to her colorful Memorial Day bucket hat or meaningful jewelry, but I zoomed in straight away to the tankini top that reminds me of my middle school days.

I know plenty of people still love the tankini style for its coverage and versatility. Please, teach me your ways! Tankinis will forever remind me of getting pushed in the pool by a boy named Alex and trying to avoid odd tan lines by lifting up the midriff flap while laying in the sun. Many things have changed since those 2006 days, and I never imagined bringing back this swimsuit, well, ever.

Like the great skinny jeans debate, I'm unprepared for a generational switch-up, but Bella's strategy is one I might have to follow. She reportedly thrifted her outfit from Depop - a sustainable style choice. If there's any way I'm going to slip into a tankini this summer, it'll be with the environment in mind. Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout.
