American Idol Becomes a Whole New Stage With Sofia Carson in This Amethyst Ball Gown

American actress, singer, and Songbird star Sofia Carson is no stranger to making a grand entrance, typically working with her stylist Nicolas Bru to showcase the most jaw-dropping couture creations from designers like Giambattista Valli and Prada on the red carpet. Carson didn't hold back for her appearance on American Idol season 19, when she joined the top nine contestants on stage to lead them in a performance of "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin.

Sofia's Elie Saab look, a piece from the fall/winter pret-a-porter 2020 collection, was somewhere in between a minidress and a ball gown (Sofia loves trains!) made of silk taffeta in an amethyst purple. The design featured dramatic poufy sleeves with a ruffled wrap-effect skirt, and Sofia cinched her waist with a thick velvet belt to coordinate with her incredibly high platforms. As for her earrings, Sofia stuck to jewel tones, complementing this purple number with emerald and diamond chandeliers and a chunky silver ring worn on her right pointer finger.
