I'm a VIP Nordstrom Stylist—I'm Telling My Clients to Try These 7 Fall Trends

We're always intrigued by what other creatives in the industry are loving in the trend department. Sandy Koszarek is one of the style-setters we turn to for inspiration. She works as a VIP stylist at Nordstrom, so she has a strong sartorial point of view given that it's her job to help clients build their wardrobes.

She actually described her role in a bit more detail to us. "As a VIP stylist, I help my customers discover and express their unique style for the important moments in life," she said. "My customers work with me for everything from finding their street style to special events, trips and travel, holiday shopping and gift-giving, and more." So on that note, we thought it could be interesting to learn about the specific fall trends she's been recommending to her clients. You know, to perhaps inspire your own autumn shopping.

Below, Koszarek shared the seven trends that speak to her this season, complete with styling inspiration. If you're loving one or more of the items, there's also a range of product recommendations.

"Sweater-vests are back and at the top of my list for fall. Vests are classic, versatile, and the perfect transitional piece to try this season. They provide an extra layer of warmth and offer a layer of color, pattern, and design to any outfit. Try layering a vest over a T-shirt, a white-collared blouse, or a printed tissue-weight turtleneck. For the more adventurous, try adding a vest over the top of a dress."
"I mean, who doesn't love a good blazer? A blazer is an essential item for any wardrobe, and this relaxed style fills the need for the 9-to-5 workweek and a layering piece to wear to weekend brunch. Try wearing a relaxed blazer with denim and heels, Chelsea boots, or sneakers. Blazers add sharpness and sophistication to any outfit."
"With many loose-fitting denim options available this season, I encourage my customers to try dark-wash straight-leg jeans. They are a more relaxed silhouette than skinny jeans and easy to wear with Chelsea boots, heels, clogs, or sneakers. I'd pair straight-leg jeans with a classic button-down blouse, retro sneakers, and an oversize blazer for a cool, classic look."
"With wider-leg denim trending, I'm suggesting my clients try the '70s-inspired classic clog. It's a great fall transitional shoe and easy to style. Try wearing a clog with straight-leg or flare denim, dresses, or skirts. Adding a sock or some fun tights with your clogs would be a good fashion statement too."
"Anyone that knows me would tell you I love wearing minimalistic neutrals and often recommend them to my customers for a timeless look. Yet this fall, I'm suggesting my customers try adding beautifully saturated colors to their wardrobe. The color combinations will add interest and brighten up your look."
"Statement sneakers continue to be a top trend and an essential item for every wardrobe. However, I recommend the more retro-style sneakers. A retro sneaker adds an element of casualness to any outfit and allows you to wear a 'dressier' item on top while still looking effortless. They are available in neutrals and an assortment of colors, whichever suits your style. Try wearing your retro sneakers with ankle-length pants, your straight-leg denim, or a midi-length dress."
"I'm recommending small shoulder bags to my clients. A small shoulder bag should be large enough to hold the essentials without weighing you down."

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
