Huge Packing Mistake: These Shoes

I recently took a trip to New Orleans… in July. Now if you've ever been to New Orleans in July, you'll probably never forget the intensity of the humidity. And if you haven't yet visited New Orleans (or anywhere else with a subtropical, humid climate) in the dog days of summer, I'd recommend mentally and sartorially preparing yourself. I'm here to help with that. I'll admit that I'm actually from Louisiana but haven't lived there for over a decade. Regardless, I should've known better than to pack only one shoe style for my trip: loafers. That's right—I packed three pairs of loafers for my two-day trip and immediately discovered they were the worst shoes to pack for a summer trip.

Since I'd be walking a good bit, I assumed that loafers were a sensible shoe style to pack, especially since I don't love wearing sandals on city streets. But a short time into my first day, I realized I probably wasn't going to make it through to the evening in these shoes. The problem was that loafers are a fairly structured pair of shoes, so the leather is typically thick and stiff. And since it was so hot and sticky in The Big Easy, the friction of the loafers against my skin lead to massive blisters in just a few hours. I'll spare you the gory details, but by late afternoon, I was limping around the French Quarter and was forced to fold the backs of my shoes down until I could hobble back to my hotel's front desk in search of bandages and blister remedies.

That said, I'm not implying that sandals are the only shoes that you should pack on summer trips. Sneakers, mules, ankle boots, and flats made of soft materials are also perfectly fine. Just take my advice and do a test run on a hot day before committing to filling your precious luggage space with the wrong type of footwear.

With that, read on to shop stylish shoes that will serve you well on summer trips.

You will never regret packing a pair of sneakers, no matter your destination. Not only do they provide the highest level of support, but they're also bound to go with nearly anything you packed, from dresses to jeans. Just don't forget the cushy socks if you plan on doing a lot of sightseeing.
Flat sandals are also a foolproof choice when it comes to packing for a vacation. They're super easy to slide on and off, making them ideal for beach or pool destinations. Be sure to choose wisely, however, as some straps can cause blisters, and too-flat shoes won't offer your arches any support.
Last but not least, clogs are great for casual vacations. Some people may say that Crocs are the ultimate "ugly shoes," but many fashion people tend to disagree.

I Tried the Viral One-Leg Jeans, and I Got Plenty of Stares

If you're into fashion and an avid TikTok scroller, you've probably come across the viral and somewhat controversial Coperni one-leg jeans . People who got their hands on them are asking followers how they should style them - and even whether or not they should keep them. Those who are still on a waitlist or are simply curious about the trend are going so far as to DIY the jeans by taking a scissor to one leg of an old pair. I, on the other hand, dared to step into the Romeo Hunte Black One Leg Pant ($232, originally $725), an alternative take on the same silhouette that's even more eye-catching (which, how is that possible?). These jeans were, without a doubt, one of the most polarizing looks I've ever worn - and I've tried some pretty divisive clothing, from Skims butt-enhancing shapewear to the brand's famous push-up nipple bra , and many a sheer naked dress . After wearing the jeans around town to run errands and obviously attracting some attention (st...

Oh, to Be Pedro Pascal's Sparkly Cardigan

Never have we been more envious of an inanimate object than when Pedro Pascal stepped out in a sparkly cardigan this week. As soon as we saw him walking the streets of London wearing the glittery knit, we longed to swap places with it - to be enrobing the heartthrob, catching the attention of random passersby, sparking internet discourse, and ultimately taking responsibility for his style breakout. Pascal has been serving look after look while promoting " The Last of Us " season one and "The Mandalorian" season three this year, working with stylists Julie Ragolia and Fabio Immediato . His latest came on Feb. 23 when he arrived to a radio interview wearing the shiny cardigan in question: a long button-down sweater made of silver foil yarn and created by menswear label 4SDesigns. He layered it over a sheer brown tank top and finished the look with black pants, leather boots, and his usual chunky-framed glasses. Just one day prior, the actor stopped by a photo call...
