My New Favorite Jeans Cost Less Than $40 at Old Navy

Now that I'm starting to move my skirts, shorts, and sundresses to make room in my tiny closet for trousers, joggers, and denim, I'm looking for new fall and winter pieces I know I'll wear on repeat. I've been on a wide-leg denim kick, with these Old Navy jeans I purchased last year in high rotation. Their vintage cut, thick material, and subtle distressing rivals designer versions, but the high waist and the stretch-free material aren't the most comfortable combination. I began looking for a cozier version to reach for when I am tempted by sweats but still want to look polished. What I Like About Old Navy's Extra High-Waisted Trouser Wide-Leg Jeans

The extra-high waistline is flattering and supportive without feeling constrictive. The pants are lightweight, soft, and stretchy, so I can move freely and feel comfortable, even when I'm crouching down, sitting for long periods, or running around with my kids at the park. They look amazing with cropped sweatshirts and boxy sweaters, and I can reach up or bend over without exposing my belly button or backside. Freedom!

The front pockets give the pants a retro sailor feel, so they're adorable with a striped shirt, obviously. They have a darted back, mimicking a trouser-style pant, which elevates their overall look.

These jeans come in light, medium, and dark washes. I opted for the medium wash, which is still a darker blue but with more color variation and slight distressing. While I'm usually a size six, these pants run a bit large, so I opted for a size four and they fit perfectly. The material includes a little spandex, which helps the smaller size to fit so well.
